About this deal

An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility.

Imagine fearing for your life, only for the police to tell you there is nothing they can do to help you.Delilah is a good girl with some dark secrets and one of these secrets is that she's responsible for the murder of her mother's abusive boyfriend. Out of the duo first person POV for Logan and Delilah, I became bored and annoyed by Delilah's character almost the entire time and just had so many issues with her which is strange when I should've been having it with Logan who's your typical stalker; but it was Delilah from the start. If someone asked me to explain The Obsession in one sentence, it would be, on the surface level it will make you question your morals, but the heart of the story is a blossoming strong young woman. But Kinbote isn't your usual bookish man and as he takes you further into his own uncertain identity, his relationship with Shade begins to look slightly different, as does the reader's understanding of Shade's death.

Nicole tells the story of her own terrifying stalker and then sends the message home with statistics and stories of other stalkings that you will surely be unaware of. Nicole interviews psychologists, police, lawyers and other experts who confirm that trolls will do this for years - especially when they have unfulfilled, empty lives where they are unemployed or underemployed and are free to craft their entire lives as disembodied avatars with no sense or responsibility and a massive axe to grind. He didn't overwhelm the story or overshadowed Naomi's development, which really worked for me big time.

In fact, Madigan includes her own VIS at the end of the book, and it is an extremely powerful document; she states that connecting with others is empowering, validating and comforting. When she was a young girl, she found out her father was a serial killer by rescuing his latest victim and seeing all of his photo evidence of his previous kills in a creepy cellar/dungeon he kept. With all of his delusions and obsessions towards Sophie and Dee, you can see how sick Logan is as he was written in such a way to convince us that he is the deranged one. As the story continues we see Naomi, her mother, and young brother Mason learning to live with the fallout of her father’s depravity with the help of her beloved Uncle Seth and his partner Harry. And then later there was this weird decription of what she was wearing when her then ex-stepfather's former partner (who kept hanging around Delilah's house once in a while) to throw off the old partner.

He then quickly and efficiently, with not a trace of doubt zeroes in on ONE book, pulls it out, opens it at a random page, sees that one of the character’s first name is the same as the heroine’s and connects all the dots based on that. When Logan blackmailed her using one of her secrets to be with him, Delilah had to find ways to get rid of him . The book doesn’t really come to grips with the meaning of obsession but it is a compelling story of being on the receiving end of relentless stalking. When Joe manages to steal Beck’s phone, he gains unprecedented access to her every thought and move. Her experience is threaded throughout the book, interspersed with other information which supports her own difficulties.
