While it succeeds in delivering scares and entertainment, it falls short of being a timeless classic.

Hab ihn mir gestern angesehen und war eher enttäuscht, hatte mir mehr gewünscht/vorgestellt - mehr im Sinne von "Evil Dead". Der Cast ist gut, die Effekte ebenfalls und grundsätzlich ist der Film einfach düster - passt für mich.

And the cast do incredible work, with special kudos going to Sutherland who gets more screentime than the usual Deadites and uses it superbly, twisting her relationships with the rest of the cast with some brutal verbal zingers that are so dark, you’ll feel bad for chuckling at them. The tattoo artist's money isn't rolling in, which is where the kids try and make any money they can to help out. The overheads are used constantly, be it for strange ambience or shocking spot effects (I don’t think that’s the cat in the air con…), but mostly Cronin and his audio team have maximised their use for a perfect integration with their more dissonant parts of the soundtrack.The family dynamic and the three kids are all enjoyable to watch and are not the usual comedic tropes.

So fans may be better off considering this 4K disc to get the most out of the film's dark aesthetic. Faces covered in blood, green skin and ugly teeth – if this is something that gets you going, then you’ll be right at home. This is mainly utilized for some spacial effects, screams and whatever else the evil spirits circling our speakers want.
