There are some pretty horrible things that happened throughout the book, but there are also some pretty amazing things. She takes nothing for granted, and selflessly sacrifices for the happiness and well being of others. Actually, I’m fairly sure I’m a born again virgin, and my hymen has grown back for all the lack of use. While I do wish it was Multi-POV, the author does convey a lot of depth, empathy, and emotional connection with the Hs through the interactions and experiences from the single POV by the FMC.

This one really sets us up with the back story and where Pen is at now with the convergence of her past and present. Dance might have brought us back together, but it’s going to take more than a beautiful routine to keep us all alive. On the other hand there’s a whole lot of annoying drama, man whore and OW messienss, and gang/mafia exploitation. A lot of the relationship part of this book took place in flashback chapters because our main characters knew each other as kids.It’s dark, it includes a reverse harem and there are many triggers and content warnings that you will need to be aware of. This has a lot of the hallmarks of a reverse harem book and while I'm intrigued, I hope this series starts to differentiate itself more. I was doubly that an artform so VISUAL, so experiential, and so tied to music could be adequately conveyed in writing. Over the past few days I’ve been seeing posts for LYRICAL by Bea Paige, and after reading the blurb I just knew I had to read this trilogy. Okay, even if that annoyed me a little, as i said earlier, it is a classic book thing, i've heard this story before, so i could ignore if the rest was good.

You better prepare yourself, if your one to go up against pen then be assured she will put you back into your place.The boys on the outside they are so angry, full of rage, but deep down when you look closely beyond the anger and rage. I’m newer to the Bea Paige fandom, and with books like Freestyle I want to slap myself for taking so long to discover her. I don’t read many Reverse Harem books because I sometimes struggle with the dynamics of the relationship ship. If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, alpha hot holes, and the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you.

I'm not great at visualizing while reading so when something with a lot of movement is being discussed, like a battle or a dance, I can get a little frustrated and bored. If you love RH books, where all of the guys have completely different personalities but compliment one another then you will love this book.

I also really didn't care for the major villain being a closeted gay or bi man who acts cruelly towards Pen because she catches him with a man. They can't just own up to mistakes they make, or maybe admit not knowing the full in's and out's of the truth. I don’t really know who exactly my favourite is, but I do have a soft spot for Dax that is for sure.

But Pen herself answer my question in that part of the book saying that they did not battle this because they respected Xeno and might've lose him if they did. Growing up in a rundown housing estate in London with no prospects can make you view the world differently. As I said the first book in the series Freestyle begins with the protagonist’s, Penelope or Pen, audition for a chance at a new life, at a dance school. Yes, the author provided flashbacks when they were together, year through year, from they first met to their last days.Three years since we’ve seen her, talked to her, laughed with her, danced with her, fucking touched her. Here we have that classic drama, that i personally hate, were the heroine and the heroes were friends when younger and started liking each other, but something happens that breaks them apart, and both parts blame and hate each other. I’m a glutton for punishment and will likely read on but I really think imma jump into some fluffy nonsense to tame this fire in me first 😅 Here’s to hoping Pen and the guys can find their ways out if this crazy masked party and the clutches of Jeb and her brother.
