If you are using a UST Projector without a UST Screen specially designed for UST projectors you will not enjoy the best image quality the projector has to offer (the same goes for using just a wall, which is usually even worse).
With a nearly perfect viewing cone of 170 degrees, the UST ALR material is capable of being viewed from extreme off-axis positions. Even if you have watched the screen for a long time, your eyes will not feel tired. Generally, there are three varieties of projectors when considering throw ratio. Traditional projectors, or long throw projectors, require around 8 to 10 feet of distance between the lens and the screen to shoot a 100-inch image. A short-throw projector needs only four or five feet to shoot a 100-inch picture. And an ultra-short throw projector requires a mere few inches to achieve a 100-inch or larger image. Are UST Projectors Better Than Traditional Projectors? UST projectors and ALR screens can be installed easily in any living space without the need for a dedicated darkened room. When creating an outdoor cinema choosing the right projector and screen for your setup is critical. The Delux Screen also has the option of being specifically customized to suit your preferences. It has a motor pull-down feature as well as a manual one. However, the price is significantly affected by which feature is chosen and so it might be better to simply let it hang down even when it is not in use.

Some are close to neutral while others tend to skew toward a cooler picture, producing crisper "whiter" whites. However, the color temperature and direction of the ambient light tends to have more of an effect on the ultimate result than any particular screen's bias. North-facing windows will introduce more blue ambient light than will incandescent lamps. The interior color of walls, carpets, furniture can also bias the color of the ambient light. So no matter what the inherent color bias of the screen itself may be, if one wants as close to neutral color balance in the image as possible, the environmental factors would need to be calibrated out on the projector by a professional installer (assuming the environmental factors are constant). Ultra short throw (UST) projectors like the A5U only work with fixed frame screens, these can either be standard fixed frame or ALR screens. This is where ALR screenscome in.Yes, I am talking about Ambient Light Rejecting Projector Screens (ALR). What Are ALR Screens? It is quite bright overall, giving a luminance reading of 142 compared to the brightest reading of the eleven which was 146. (Keep in mind these luminance readings are relevant only for comparative purposes, and relate only to the projector and ambient light environment in our test room.)
