CHRIS HARRIS reckons he is ready for TWO marriages made in heaven in just a few days after signing for Glasgow.
The former British Grand Prix winner and three-times British Champion was unveiled as the first name on the Allied Vehicles Tigers teamsheet at a special event at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday night. It’s a major coup for the Ashfield side to land the outstanding Bomber and he was also revealed as their new captain for 2018.
“It’s an exciting time and busy for me as a family. I’m getting married in a couple of weeks and signed for Glasgow. It feels like I’m getting hitched twice! But I’m also moving house and my partner Emma-Louise is due to have our baby in April, so it’s a really great time”
“The Glasgow management have told me they want exciting racing and passing at Ashfield and I’m sure I can provide that. I’ve always loved racing at Glasgow and there are also changes being made to the track to increase the amount of passing so that should be even better. Glasgow are a very ambitious club and that’s what I need at this stage of my career and I can’t wait for the season to start. It’s a big year ahead”
“I was disappointed to miss out in 2016 on being in Team GB in the World Cup final at Belle Vue. So to get back in last season was great. I worked hard to get back in Rosco’s plans and I also want to get back in the Grand Prix series. I still feel I can have some fun in there and race at that level. People might not think I can but I believe I can. While I believe that I will keep going. I’ve missed the racing and the atmosphere of the Grand Prix. Even when you are at the back, I still miss being part of it. I don’t miss the travelling and the expense that comes with it. Being in the GPs is a great experience and I want to be part of it again.”
Glasgow also announced the signing of hugely-popular Yorkshire terrier James Sarjeant who was last at the club in 2015.
Pocket rocket Sarj is a trump card at reserve. He said: “My heart has never left this club to be honest. I love racing here and I’m just so happy to be back.”
